OwnGig.com – A Place for Music Fans

Owngig.com is a new online community designed to help fans bring their favourite new acts to their local area and in turn assists those artists to better promote such events.

By removing the guesswork, the service offers everyone a better way of planning live music from the best up and coming bands in the UK and beyond.

The fan simply selects an artist from the Owngig database, pledges to see them and states what they would be willing to pay and how far they would be willing to travel for the show.

Owngig tracks the bids and when sufficient interest is created the artist is informed.

The site provides promotional tools for fans to spread the word about a potential show, and rewards points to each fan for the promotion of a gig on Facebook, Twitter, blogs and forums and emailing friends.

When a show is announced, the two fans with the highest number of points are rewarded with a free ticket each.

This process has proven to be incredibly viral as fans have the incentive of actually making a show happen simply by inviting their friends, effectively creating an online ’street team’.  The end result is hopefully a significantly bigger fan base for the artist concerned.

Analytics are available for the artist to gauge the demand that is being created as well as a buzz tracker that finds and tracks any web coverage they are generating.

Finally the artist can create a profile on Owngig that feeds in all content as it updates from their MySpace, Facebook and Twitter accounts giving the fan one place to access all band information in real time.
