Owngig.com is a new online community designed to help fans bring their favourite new acts to their local area and in turn assists those artists to better promote such events.

By removing the guesswork, the service offers everyone a better way of planning live music from the best up and coming bands in the UK and beyond.

The fan simply selects an artist from the Owngig database, pledges to see them and states what they would be willing to pay and how far they would be willing to travel for the show.

Owngig tracks the bids and when sufficient interest is created the artist is informed.

The site provides promotional tools for fans to spread the word about a potential show, and rewards points to each fan for the promotion of a gig on Facebook, Twitter, blogs and forums and emailing friends.

When a show is announced, the two fans with the highest number of points are rewarded with a free ticket each.

This process has proven to be incredibly viral as fans have the incentive of actually making a show happen simply by inviting their friends, effectively creating an online ’street team’. The end result is hopefully a significantly bigger fan base for the artist concerned.

Analytics are available for the artist to gauge the demand that is being created as well as a buzz tracker that finds and tracks any web coverage they are generating.

Finally the artist can create a profile on Owngig that feeds in all content as it updates from their MySpace, Facebook and Twitter accounts giving the fan one place to access all band information in real time.

MiMi Soya announce brand new EP & UK Tour

Brighton pop-rockers MiMi Soya are hitting the road this May/ June in support of their stunning new EP ‘I Can’t Stand Pop Bands…’, due out on 14th June through LAB Records.

The four-strong band spent 2009 on tour with Fueled By Ramen’s Cobra Starship, sharing stages with the likes of Set Your Goals, Go: Audio, Newton Faulkner and Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly, and shifted a whopping 5000 copies of their last EP in the process. With the new decade, a new approach has been adopted by the band. They’ve been locked away with Romesh Dodangoda (Kids In Glass Houses, Funeral For A Friend) at Longwave Studios honing some huge pop anthems to compliment their sunny, addictive melodies and stirring guitar riffs. It’s a bit of a rebirth as guitarist Chris explains;

“I’m sooooo excited for everyone to hear the new EP. Expect from us a brand new, stronger sound with a theme of recovery running through its veins. It’s a phoenix-like rebirth! It’s full of feel-good tracks with humorous, tongue-in-cheek lyrics and we’ve had an awesome time putting it together! It’s been an incredible year for us, with so much going on. We played a sell-out tour of Holland, recorded in Wales with Romesh who has been making our music rock harder than ever before!”

The full track listing will be 1) Millionaire 2) Told You So 3) I Can’t Stand Pop Bands… 4) Doctor! Doctor!

The full UK tour is as follows:

13th May – 12 Bar, Swindon

15th May – Rios, Leeds

19th May – Bierkeller, Bristol

The Morning Of release new album The Way I Fell In on 4th May 2010 on Lab Records

www.myspace.com/themorningof

The Morning Of released their first album, “The World As We Know It”, on Tragic Hero Records/East West in Jan. of 2008. The band was in bliss to see their very first album debut at number 18 on the Billboard Heatseeker’s Chart, to reach the 25th pop album on iTunes, to have their single “Reverie” reviewed in USA Today, and to be featured on MTV.com’s Buzzworthy Blog, all while touring the entire country several times in support of their record. After all of this, the dual fronted NY native pop/rock act known as The Morning Of is finally gearing up to release a new record after what the band says “feels like forever and a day”.

These young, yet seasoned touring artists have built their grass roots following as well as their songwriting abilities from the ground up through years of touring and hard work, which is a rare and under-appreciated sight in today’s music industry. The band has just finished recording their sophomore album with producer Jim Wirt (No Doubt, Incubus, Hoobstank, Jacks Mannequin, The Rocket Summer) at 4th Street Recording Studios in Santa Monica, CA and are preparing for an early 2010 release on Tragic Hero/East West/Lab Records. “We honestly think that everyone is in for a huge surprise with this record. It’s still us, but we’ve been through so much in the last few years that have drastically changed us as people, artists, and songwriters”, says pianist/guitarist Chris Petrosino. “A lot of people don’t realize that a lot of the songs on TWAWKI were written when we were 15 and 16 years old, so we’re beyond ecstatic to have an honest, relatable record that we’re all extremely proud of, and that is current with where we’re at as individuals and musicians”, adds guitarist Rob McCurdy. “I just absolutely cannot wait for everyone to hear this album that is our own, and to start touring heavily behind this record”, concludes vocalist Justin Wiley.

Be sure to stay current with The Morning Of as video updates, pictures, live performances of new songs from The Way I Fell In, and eventually the new record itself are unveiled.

**What the press say about Anonymous Tip

“Anonymous Tip give us plenty of reasons to keep the faith” – Rock Sound

“Anonymous Tip focus on creating the kind of frantic sing-a-long anthems that are as intoxicating as they are totally irresistible” – Drowned in Sound

“Hotly Tipped Rock Monsters” – Music Week

“The Twickenham quartet balances gritty punk-rock menace with moments of soulful reflection and a socio-political commentary that makes for a perfect warm up” – Punktastic

“I haven’t seen this sort of energy since Rage Against the Machine in 2000” – Bizarre Magazine

** Anonymous Tip have been played on XFM, Radio 1, 6Music and Total Rock

The fast and furious tones of Anonymous Tip have been rocking venues up and down the UK since their inception back in 2002. They have made a real dent in the underground punk rock circuit as an unorthodox group of punk rockers with an ambiguous message. Songs about archaic politics, confessions of nymphomania, fascism within rock scenes and their deep routed suspicion of the music industry, have helped them gain a notorious and loyal following. Their musical statement of intent is to blend emotive chants with fast-paced grooves, at the same time keeping everything carefully crafted to ignite the monster inside and to provoke debate and passion.

Seminal punk legends Snuff went on to release Anonymous Tip’s self-financed and self-produced debut 6-track EP “Greetings from Wasteland” through 10 Past 10 Records and took them on a unadulterated tour around the UK with Five Knuckle, Captain Everything and of course, the mighty Snuff. The EP SOLD OUT – over 2,000 copies – and was released in other territories, where it sold well too, especially in Japan, where the band built up a cult following.

Since the release of their debut album ‘Not Your Orthodox’ in 2008, the band have also gigged with the likes of Propagandhi, Enter Shikari and The King Blues.

Monday 12th April 2010 sees the release of ‘The Weirder Brave’ which is the first single of their second full length album ‘Snitches & Stiches’ planned for release later this year. ‘The Weirder Brave’ is another polemic statement of frustration at the rise of media coverage for the British National Party.

Vocalist Sanj Surati says; “My best friend was picked on at school because he was white and I was brown. The shops in our high street used to have huge racist slogans painted on them calling all brown people obscenities and infestations. Young and old people had to hold their heads high in the face of such provocation. This song is about those people who dealt with this then and for those that are dealing with it now.”
